Associated Board of Royal School of Music (ABRSM)
Proud to be a part of one of the most renown UK music education body worldwide.
In Sixstrings, we prepare students for Graded Exams (Grade 1-8) & Diplomas with ABRSM.
The gentle progression of the exam syllabus allows the students to increase their skills with ease.
The exam repertoire always includes pieces from different periods such as Baroque, Classical, Romantic and the fun 20th Century.
It is most rewarding to watch the students grow from scratch to confident, note-reading musicians at the end!

Rockschool
‘Awarding the contemporary Arts’ as their motto, Rockschool specialises in contemporary music, training students to play in a band setting.
A backing track is provided for each exam piece for training note-reading, sense of rhythm and improvisations. This serves as an excellent alternative for young music learners for more relevant genres.
They provide exams for Graded Music, Music Productions, Music theory, Creative Qualifications & Music Diplomas in Performance and Licenciate.
In Sixstrings, we train and organise concerts for students, putting them in live bands to further enhance their musical talents and better prepare them for Rockschool Exams.

What is UCAS?
UCAS (Universities & Colleges Admissions Service) is a clearing house for applications to almost all full-time undergraduate degree programmes at UK universities and colleges.
What are UCAS Points?
UCAS rates qualifications and awards them a tariff score based on various factors. The points accrued by completing multiple qualifications which are on the UCAS tariff can be combined together to meet University entry requirements.
The New Tariff
UCAS tariff points have changed for entry to Higher Education in 2017 and beyond. All qualifications in the new system carry far fewer points than was previously the case.
All qualifications have been reassessed by UCAS and had a new rating applied. For example a Grade A* at A Level used to carry 140 points under the old tariff. The same A* grade would now carry 56 points under the new system.
All of RSL’s qualifications have retained their value relative to equivalent qualifications from other Awarding Organisations.
Graded Music Exams
Rockschool’s Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Bass, Drums, Vocals, Piano & Keyboard, Music Theory and Music Production Grades 6, 7 & 8 all have UCAS points.
RSL Classical Piano grades 6, 7 & 8 all have UCAS Points.

Sixstrings prepares piano students for ABRSM and Rockschool exam, whilst guitar and drums students for Rockschool exam.
Classes are conducted one to one. However, group classes can be arranged.
5 years old onwards is the most suitable.
A trial / assessment is conducted to assess the both way communication between student and the potential teacher, and grading the student.
